Muhammad Ali was part boxer, part artist, part dancer, part poet, part thespian, part social commentator, part comedian. Ali transcended sport and charmed the world. It was the two Liston fights that first established Ali as beautiful, different, artistic: Like no one we’d ever seen before. And now he is dead, all of that gone at the age of 74, gone from a world he made better and certainly more entertaining. Really, he fought everyone and he brought boxing to a place it will never again hold on the world’s stage.
