Mudavadi under pressure to hold ANC elections

Pressure is mounting on Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi to hold party polls amid claims that his term in office has expired. On Tuesday, a founder member of the five-year-old ANC, wrote to the Registrar of Political Parties Anne Nderitu demanding that she compels Mudavadi to conduct elections in line with the party constitution. Last week, ANC secretary general Barrack Muluka clarified that the party’s NEC met virtually and resolved to seek an extension from Nderitu. Last week, nominated MP Godfrey Osotsi started calls for party elections, claiming Mudavadi’s term has expired. The first-time lawmaker urged Nderitu to take action against ANC, including deregistration, should it fail to hold polls as required.
