The IEBC must not be tasked with party nominations, Amani coalition leader Musalia Mudavadi said on Wednesday. "Letting the IEBC conduct our nominations is like accepting that our own parties do not practise democracy." He gave several reasons for his sentiment, following President Uhuru Kenyatta's declaration that the electoral body would manage Jubilee Party nominations. The former deputy Prime Minister also said the IEBC lacks records required for party nominations, as they are kept by the parties. Mudavadi further said if allowed to conduct the nominations, the commission may end up working in favour of some leaders.
