After the game, it was reported that the violent clash occurred near the intersection outside Muangthong's SCG Stadium, prompting more than 400 police officers to step in to restore the order. It took around an hour before the authority could put the situation under control. The animosity between the two clubs' fans has been festering for years since a mass brawl erupted during the King's Trophy match featuring the two sides six years ago. In 2014 when Port still played in the top-flight division, they came to blows again at the end of the league fixture at Muangthong.
