The sources also point at Tharaka Nithi Senator Prof Kithure Kindiki as another major politician who might remain out of the new entity. Most were disqualified because their officials expressed desire to retain some control and the Mt Kenya East team did not like that. "We shall be open-minded and will not place obstacles on the way for anything good for the country,” said Kamau. It being picked as the Mt Kenya East vehicle will be ironical in some way as its main promoter in Meru from 2017 has been Senator Linturi who is now the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) point man in the region.
