All this towards achieving that coveted goal of high-income nation (HIN) status as defined by the World Bank by 2020. The timing of NTP 2017 is irrelevant — it would have been published irrespective of whether 2018 was an election year or not. The above challenge is implicit in NTP 2017. NTP 2017 to me is a “vision of the eminently achievable” and a testament of hope for the future of the current and next generation of Malaysians. Amidst an opposition largely in disarray, NTP 2017 suggests that Malaysia is verily on the right growth and governance trajectory.
