As reported by the San Francisco Chronicle, and in a tasty turn of events, the city of Mountain View has quietly passed legislation that requires Facebook not fully subsidize food and drink for employees. Instead, it can either let outside folks into food areas to buy food alongside staff or pay some or all of the cost of food bought from other businesses in the neighborhood. This is the complete antithesis to how food and beverages have been seen in these booming tech companies for the last couple of decades. Doritos, M&Ms, Snickers and all other manner of what was clearly sugar and salt laden junk food. Work environments tend to be new and fresh and comfortable and the audience, the eating staff, tends to be appreciative.
