Mount Kinabalu trails to reopen tomorrow - Nation

KOTA KINABALU: Mount Kinabalu's summit trail is expected reopen on Saturday (March 10) as the Sabah Parks damage assessment team found no major destruction on the mountain following a 5.2 magnitude quake on Thursday (March 8). He said activities were halted for a day for safety reasons following the earthquake that shook Ranau. "A team of 47 people from various organisations including mountain guides, mountain search and rescue team, porters, Sabah Parks and Sutera Sanctuary Lodges staff went up the mountain today to assess the damage," he said. "Luckily, the trail from Timpohon Gate to Low's peak (8.72km) towards the summit only had minor damage and has been repaired," added Masidi. He said they have checked the safety of the trails and lodges atop the mountain, and found all to be in good condition.
