Motorists urged to take care, rivers rise


Motorists in South Otago are warned to take care on roads today due to heavy rain. The Clutha District Council said Elliotvale Rd was closed from Toko Mouth Rd to Blackbridge Rd and some other roads have warning signs on them. The council asked that motorists drive to the conditions, including watching speeds and following distances. In Dunedin, 23.2mm of rain was recorded in the 24 hours to 8am, and 70mm total in the past week. At Table Hill in the Clutha District there has been 26mm rain in the past 24 hours and 56mm total in the past week.
