Motorists stranded between Wellington and Lower Hutt by flooding have been stuck for hours with little communication from authorities. Waka Kotahi Traffic is backed up on SH2 between Wellington and Lower Hutt with flooding closing the northbound lanes. A police spokeswoman said police were maintaining cordons near and on the state highway to allow contractors to carry out clearing work. SUPPLIED Motorists have been advised to avoid Wellington’s Hutt Rd because of extensive surface flooding. Wellington City Council is urging motorists to take extra care of slips and fallen trees following the heavy rain and strong winds.
