Motorist arrested after boy, 11, killed in hit and run in Manchester

A motorist has been arrested after a 11-year-old boy was killed in a hit-and-run collision. The child was treated by paramedics at the scene of the incident in Beswick, Manchester, but died of his injuries in hospital. A grey VW Golf, believed to have been involved in the collision in Albert Street shortly after 6.10pm on Saturday, left the scene and was found abandoned a short distance away. A 31-year-old man later attended a police station and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. PC Karl Horner, of the force’s serious collision investigation unit, said: “This was a tragic incident in which a young boy lost his life, and my thoughts are with his family at this unimaginably difficult time.
