Emergency services were called to a motorcycle crash on SH82 near Waimate. A motorcyclist has been seriously injured in a crash near Waimate on State Highway 82. St John communications advisor Ngaire Jones said two ambulances and a helicopter were called to the scene which is about 3 kilometres south of the town near the Waimate Gorge. One patient was taken by helicopter to Dunedin Hospital with serious injuries, she said. Fire and Emergency New Zealand (Fenz) received the call at 2.46pm on Sunday and sent two crews from the Waimate Volunteer Brigade, a Fenz spokesperson said.
