A police roadblock on State Highway 1 through Winchester ahead of a crash involving a motorcycle and a car. A female motorcyclist is in critical condition following a crash on State Highway 1 between Orari and Winchester in South Canterbury. Sergeant Mike van der Heyden said the motorcyclist – one of two travelling north near the Winchester township – lost control and crashed at 10am on Monday. Van der Heyden said no other vehicles were involved. The NZ Transport Agency has advised southbound road users should consider using Muff Rd, then Factory Rd and Rise Rd to get back onto State Highway 1, with the reverse directions for northbound traffic.
