Motorcyclist dies after crash on State Highway 65 near MaruiaROSS GIBLIN/FAIRFAX NZ A motorcyclist has died in a crash on State Highway 65 near Maruia. The man collided with a fence near Maruia, south of Murchison, about 8am on Thursday. The crash happened on State Highway 65, which is currently the main route through the South Island following November's Kaikoura earthquake which damaged large sections of State Highway 1. The crash put the highway down to one lane for several hours, the NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) said. An alternate route is to use State Highway 69 through Inangahua and Reefton.
