MANILA, Philippines — The final word on the extension of the pilot run of app-based motorcycle taxis would be out this week, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said yesterday. LTFRB Chairman Martin Delgra said the public can expect to know the decision of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) on the matter by this week. The DOTr in June approved the pilot implementation of motorcycle taxi operations following the release of general guidelines that covered safety requirements, fare matrix, data sharing standards and key performance indicators for the operations. The pilot run covers Angkas, which has a fleet of about 27,000 motorcycle drivers. The TWG sought to refine the general guidelines that would eventually pave the way for legislation covering motorcycle taxi operations.
