In June 2019, unemployed Richard Austin, of Erdington in Birmingham, was jailed for five years after pleading guilty to attempted murder. Ms Phillips, who is unable to work due to injuries from the attack, said: 'His sentence is a joke. The mental scars still linger, it makes me cry when I think that Richard tried to kill me. Ms Phillips begged police officers to stop him, but they said there wasn't enough evidence to charge him.
