The mother of an alleged kidnap victim choked back tears as she told a Rotorua court of a phone call informing her he would be released. She got a call in reply from a person claiming to be the businessman, but she said it didn't sound like him. Choking back tears, she said she was told her son was alright and he'd be home that night before the call was terminated. Another witness today told of finding someone crouching behind shelving in his workshop. Another witness told how he'd been flagged down and offered $50 to take the man to the police station.
