A mother of two young children was killed in the first fatality on Waikato roads this year. The 38-year-old woman died at the scene of the crash that left her 53-year-old husband and two children aged 6 and 3 injured on Sunday afternoon. Auckland-Coromandel Westpac Rescue A 38 year old woman died after the car the family were in crashed into a drain in Matamata. "There would be a remote chance they were looking in the rear view mirror at the time," Waikato Road Police Senior Sergeant Pete van de Wetering said later. An elderly woman also died in hospital two days after she was injured in a low-speed crash into a tree in Canterbury.
