The most affordable towns and cities in Britain to buy a property have been revealed. The average property price in Shildon is £59,468 and the price to earnings ratio is 1.1. Ferryhill, also in County Durham, ranks in seventh place with a median house price of £72,264 and a price to earnings ratio of 1.35. Zoopla said its lower house prices and the dominance of terraced housing was driving affordability in the area. The average house price in the area is £141,431, while there's a price to earnings ratio of 2.5.
