The majority of Irish smokers try to quit - but 85% fail multiple times. With over one million smokers in Ireland, new research reveals the majority are 'full time' as opposed to occasional or "social smokers". Half of young people quoted stress as their reason for relapsing compared to 27% of older smokers. The top five reasons smokers gave for trying to quit smoking were: health reasons, financial, medical advice, pregnancy and for a loved one or friend. Smokers can save around €2,000 per year if they quit smoking.
