PEP withdrawal from the raceAs earlier reported, UDA Party had unveiled Njuguna as its flagbearer in the contest while PEP settled on Raymond Kuria, causing friction in Ruto's faction. Koimburi floored his main competition Susan Waititu of the Jubilee Party by garnering 12,159 votes to his rival's 5,746. During the race, UDA supported PEP to clinch the seat in perceived President Uhuru Kenyatta's stronghold.
