Having won the toss, captain Nurul Hasan decided to bat first and that proved fruitful as Bangladesh posted 286/8 in their allotted 50 overs. In reply, Hong Kong got off to a steady start and at one point looked in a good position to get a win when they were 177/2 in the 36th over. Bangladesh bowlers with some tight bowling at the death, bouncing back with a win in their second game. For Bangladesh Khaled Ahmed took two wickets though he proved expensive, giving away 69 runs in his 10 overs. Babar Hayat was the second highest scorer for Hong Kong with 91 runs.
