Morocco steps up 2006 campaign

Tunis - Morocco stepped up their bid to host the 2006 World Cup on Sunday as the deputy head of their organising campaign, Driss Benhima, embarked upon a 15-nation tour of African states to muster support. Benhima aid the idea of his tour was to "increase people's awareness of the Moroccan dossier." He added the north African country was "hugely motivated" to capture the event for the African continent for the first time. Benhima insisted that Morocco has the necessary infrastructure to stage the jamboree, adding that its geographical proximity to Europe would play in its favour. England and Germany are rivalling each other in Europe to host the tournament, with Brazil carrying South American hopes.
