Morocco has evacuated 572 nationals trapped in the infighting in Sudan after it has established an airbridge upon instructions of King Mohammed VI, Morocco’s foreign ministry said. On May 2, the fourth RAM airlines flight arrived in Casablanca airport carrying 125 people relieved to leave the infighting plaguing Sudan. The evacuated passengers include nationals from the brotherly African countries of Senegal, Gabon, DRC, Mali, and Burkina Faso in a gesture of solidarity that underpin Morocco’s African policy, said the ministry in a statement. The violence left at least 500 people dead and forces many countries to evacuate their nationals including by sea and land routes. “Over 100,000 refugees are estimated to be among those who have now crossed to neighboring countries, including Sudanese refugees,” Olga Sarrado, spokesperson at United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, told reporters at a briefing in Geneva.
