Moroccan Ambassador to China Aziz Mekouar has reiterated Morocco’s adherence to the One China principle, affirming that this stand forms the basis of relations between the two friendly countries. “Morocco continues to support the People’s Republic of China on this issue and renews its positions expressed many times, at different levels, both bilaterally and within international organizations,” Aziz Mekouar added. The Moroccan diplomat’s remarks came following recent developments between Taiwan and China after the visit to Taiwan of speaker of the U.S. House of Representative Nancy Pelosi. “The One-China principle is the consensus of the international community and is also a fundamental norm, governing relations between China and foreign countries,” he explained. […] We do not support Taiwanese independence.”The One China principle is the position held by China that there is only one sovereign state under the name China, and that Taiwan is a part of China as stated in the 1992 consensus between China and Taiwan.
