Morocco earmarks 60 million dirhams to combat flooding in the north of the country

The Moroccan authorities have announced a budget of nearly 60 million dirhams to carry out flood protection works in the Ajdir valley, in the municipality of Ksar Sghir and the town of Ouezzane. These projects have been approved by the Tangiers-Tetouan-Al Hoceima Association. As reported by Moroccan media such as Yabiladi, this agreement will serve to protect the Ajdir valley (province of Al Hoceima) against flooding, with a budget of approximately 35 MDH. For the municipality of Ksar Sghir, an allocation of 13.9 million dirhams was allocated to protect the centre of Farsioua from flooding through the construction of a protective barrier at the level of the Ksar Sghir wadi. This project is part of a partnership between the Fund to combat the effects of natural disasters (4.17 MDH), the ABHL (3 MDH), the regional council (4.5 MDH) and the municipality of Ksar Sghir (2.23 MDH), for the period 2023-2025.
