Morocco: Left Slab in a Land of Rights

Ever since the ’60s, traveling surfers have flocked to the North African country for its fine right pointbreaks, exotic culture, warm weather and cheap living. One of whom is Othmane Choufani, who’s been exploring various nooks and crannies and outer reefs for years. And last week, a strong North Atlantic swell made its way down the coast — and Choufani enlisted mate Ismail Benlamlih to grab a ski and tackle this rarely surfed left slab. “This was one of the best days of Moroccan big wave surfing since Hercules, it was just amazing.” said Choufani. There’s not many people who surf this wave, and to get a big lefthand barrel in the land of rights is just amazing.
