Morocco: Islamist PJD Party Favorite to Win Legislative Elections, but Victory is not Guaranteed YetThe North Africa Journal. The moderate Islamist PJD party (Parti Justice et Développement) of Prime Minister Abdelilah Benkirane, is facing a formidable opponent, the pro-Monarchy PAM party (Parti Authenticité et Modernité). To win an absolute majority, a party must win 198 seats. Seemingly nutral in this political fight is another political party, the Mouvement Populaire (MP) headed by Mohand Laenser. Its leader Driss Lachgar has even warned that a major crisis would erupt if the PJD were to win the elections.
