The share of this trade in the Kingdom’s overall trade volume stood at 5.1% in 2019, according to data from the Foreign Exchange Office. Morocco-Africa exchanges were marked by a structural change from 2015, as Morocco’s trade balance started being marked by a surplus, the magazine indicates. Thus, the trade balance of these exchanges recorded a surplus in favor of Morocco, standing at +3.7 million DH in 2019 against a deficit of 5.5 million DH in 2009. In 2019, Djibouti and Senegal are the Kingdom’s leading customers in the African continent with a value of 2.1 million DH each, followed by Mauritania (1.9 million DH), Côte d’Ivoire (1.8 million DH) and Algeria (1.5 million DH). Moroccan exports to these countries accounted for 43.5% of the overall volume of Morocco’s exports to Africa in 2019.
