Morocco’s Role in Resolving the Libyan Crisis \ Newslooks \ MAP \ The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) on Wednesday thanked Morocco for hosting the meeting of the Libyan 6+6 Joint Commission in Bouznika (22 May to 6 June), which reached a compromise on the laws for the presidential and parliamentary elections scheduled for the end of the year in the country. In a statement, the Mission expressed its appreciation for the efforts of the 6+6 Commission, which was mandated by the Libyan House of Representatives and the Libyan Council of State to draft the electoral laws, and thanked the Government of the Kingdom of Morocco for hosting the Commission. The final agreement on these laws will be discussed in the coming days in the presence of the presidents of the Libyan House of Representatives and the Council of State, said Jalal Shwehdi, member of the House of Representatives, during the closing session of the work of the 6+6 Commission, in the presence of Omar Abu Lifa, member of the High Council of State, and Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates. Morocco continues its efforts to find a definitive solution to the Libyan crisis in order to ensure the unity, stability and progress of Libya by supporting its efforts to organize elections in a comprehensive, inclusive and pragmatic framework.
