Morocco’s Energy Efficiency Agency Wins Energy Globe Award

The Moroccan Agency for Energy Efficiency (AMEE) has won “Energy Globe Award” 2021 for its photovoltaic water pumping system (PVWPS) used for drip irrigation. This system supports Morocco’s energy efficiency in agriculture and paves the way for a nationwide solar water pumping program for agricultural irrigation. Solar powered pumps are more cost-effective for crops with higher irrigation demands, while diesel pump costs increase with irrigation water needs and global warming. The Energy Globe Award, the world’s most prestigious award for sustainability, seeks to encourage sustainable projects and demonstrate that there are feasible solutions to environmental problems. They reward innovative projects and smart technologies that contribute to environment protection, help to improve air & water quality, and encourage energy efficiency and renewable energies.
