The Moroccan National Human Rights Council (CNDH) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) have inked a partnership agreement for promoting human rights and strengthening gender equality. The agreement, signed on the sidelines of the ongoing 27th International Book Fair (SIEL) held in Rabat, is meant to strengthen the capacity in human rights education, peace and tolerance, as well as to promote gender equality, non-discrimination and social inclusion. Acting director of the UNESCO Office in Morocco, Karim Hendili, highlighted the partnership between UNESCO and the CNDH which places the human being at the centre of actions, in accordance with a development approach based on human rights, whose main aim is the promotion of individuals. This partnership, added the UNESCO official, aims to fight all forms of discrimination, and promote gender equality and achieve social inclusion for all categories. The agreement will help promote rights in several areas, including the preservation of cultural heritage, the right to education, especially distance education, and post-covid challenges facing the education sector.
