Moroccan SOMAGEC group builds oil terminal in Djibouti


Part of the Moroccan private sector’ s increasing investments in the Horn of Africa, the group SOMAGEC is contributing to the building of an oil terminal in Djibouti. The Moroccan public works and civil engineering company is providing its expertise to Djibouti, which launched on Thursday the construction works of the new oil jetty, as part of a large storage platform for petroleum products and derivatives. The new infrastructure includes oil storage terminals, a crude oil refinery, an LNG terminal, ship repair area as well as power plants and a park for building materials. The oil terminal consists of an offshore jetty connected to a storage area. The launch ceremony by President Ismail Omar Guelleh was attended by SOMAGEC President Roger Sahyoun.
