Morning flight leads to strange sight over Taranaki watersSupplied Warren Fulljames saw three waterspouts as he was flying back from Mōkau this morning. As pilot Warren Fulljames enjoyed a smooth flight in Friday morning skies, a strange phenomenon captured his eye. Three waterspouts - a funnel-shaped cloud that occurs over a body of water - were hanging from a single dark cloud in a rather blue sky. Fulljames said the weather was fine and the sun was shining apart from the single dark cloud. And in 2013 photographer Daisy Day noticed a "quite wide" and speedy waterspout in New Plymouth waters.
