More than 9,000 people have failed to turn up for their driving tests last year, as tens of thousands of people continue to await appointments. Some 61,000 people are currently awaiting a test date, with just 32 out of 57 driving test centres across the country hitting the agreed 10-week waiting period. Some 262,498 driving tests were conducted across the country last year. Of the 57 driving test centres, 32 were offering driver test dates within 10 weeks or fewer at the end of December. In Raheny, waiting lists stood at 19 weeks, while learners in Tallaght were facing 16 weeks of delay.
