More than 363 million trips were made on public transport last year


There were 363.5 million passenger journeys made on public transport last year, up 6pc and almost 20 million higher than the previous annual total, new figures from the National Transport Authority show. The journeys were across the Transport for Ireland network, which includes Dublin Bus, Bus Éireann, Iarnród Éireann, Luas, Go-Ahead Ireland and TFI Local Link servicesDublin Bus accounted for 164 million passenger trips in 2025, the highest volume of any operator. Bus Éireann carried 53.6 million passengers on its services nationwide. Town bus services in Carlow, Kilkenny and Portlaoise carried 1.2 million passengers. “These figures clearly show that our continued investment in public transport is delivering real benefits for people and communities across Ireland,” said Transport Minister Darragh O’Brien.
