The Chhattisgarh police claimed to have killed more than two Maoists in an encounter on the bank of the Indravati river in Bastar district on Wednesday. “At least two Maoists definitely died during the encounter,” claimed Bastar Additional Superintendent of Police Vijay Pande. “Many Maoists were killed during the gun battle on the bank of river Indravati. It was raining heavily when the encounter was going on and the Maoists were seen dragging the bodies inside the forest,” Bastar range Inspector General of Police S.R.P. The encounter took place when a joint team of the Special Task Force and the District Reserve Guard (DRG) launched an operation in the area after getting inputs about the movement of Maoists.
