A billowing plume of black smoke drifted across the city as emergency crews battled a massive fire in a south Edmonton industrial area Saturday afternoon. The fire broke out at about 1:30 p.m. in a complex near 83rd Street and Wagner Road, said Edmonton Fire Rescue spokesperson Kristi Bland. Crews encountered a fully-involved fire when they arrived on scene, and immediately called for additional support to deal with the flames and smoke. At the peak of the fire, 27 trucks and 108 firefighters were battling the blaze. The three who were taken to hospital weren't injured, she said, but their vital signs weren't completely normal, and needed to be monitored.
