(CNN) More than 103,000 people are currently hospitalized with Covid-19, the first time the total has reached six figures in nearly four months, according to the latest data from the US Department of Health and Human Services. Covid-19 hospitalizations reached a record high of more than 142,000 about a year ago, on January 14, 2021, and last topped 100,000 on September 11. Just last Monday, HHS reported 71,000 Covid-19 hospitalizations. The rise in hospitalizations comes amid a much larger surge in Covid-19 cases spurred by the Omicron variant. "We've lost at least 20% of our health care workforce; probably more."
