Venues have been refusing entry to customers who have not downloaded the NHS Covid-19 app, despite less than a sixth of the UK population - around 10 million people - getting it on their phones. The local authority worker from Walsall said she happily provided her contact details but thought the phone software would cause too many issues. She tweeted: 'Just got asked to leave a cafe because my phone is broken and I couldn't access the Track and Trace app to login. Government rules on the track and trace app say you do not need to have it to be allowed into pubs and venues. One user, Chloe James, wrote: 'I'm in a pub and apparently they've been told they can't serve anyone unless they have the track and trace app.'
