A further 78 tickets were issued during the blitz for other driving infractions, Toronto police said, and 16 people were arrested for driving while impaired. Speeding and stunt driving has become more common around the GTA since the start of the pandemic. Over March 23 and April 27, Toronto police saw a 600-per-cent increase in stunt driving. On roads patrolled by Ontario Provincial Police, 301 tickets were issued over stunt driving in another recent blitz over May 12 and 18.
