JOHOR BARU: A total of 1,031 police personnel will be on duty during the four-day Chingay celebration here set to begin Feb 11. Johor Baru South police chief Assistant Commissioner Shahurinain Jais said the largest number of personnel, about 600, will be on duty on Feb 14. "We expect this year's Chingay celebration will be smaller in scale due to the novel Coronavirus outbreak. "All the police personnel involved will be equipped with the necessary safety equipment like face masks. Chingay is held on the 21st day of the Lunar New Year and has become a national heritage event in Johor which has been celebrated for the past 150 years.
