Meanwhile, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development is working with local community housing providers and Kāinga Ora to review the number of public housing places in the district. This is part of an update to the Public Housing Plan, and will incorporate the additional 8000 homes announced as part of the budget. The 2018-2022 Public Housing Plan was to create an additional 30 of additional public housing places in Levin. This year’s budget invested $570 million to deliver 8000 new places, approximately 6000 public houses and 2000 transitional housing places.
