Residents had a nervous day anticipating heavy rain forecast for Monday night. Kevin Stent/Stuff Silt and sludge have become a feature of several Plimmerton, in the northern reaches of Porirua, streets following flash flooding on Sunday. Airlie Rd resident Marty Sammut had already ripped up his carpet and torn down his curtains following Sunday’s downpour. Living near a creek, heavy rain always concerns locals, but for Moore, Sunday’s downpour was something else. Porirua City Council said its priority was preparing for the forecast rain, along with supporting those affected by Sunday’s flooding.
