The rebuilt Fox Glacier valley road might be reopened this week. Photo ODT filesThe rebuilt Fox Glacier valley road might be reopened this week - more than seven weeks after it was wiped out by ex-tropical Cyclone Fehi. However, the glacier valley faces ongoing challenges, and is expected to close whenever it rains heavily. "It's been a good week for the contractors in the Fox Valley, with significant progress being made," Department of Conservation operations manager Wayne Costello, of Franz Josef Glacier, said on Friday. DOC will host a guided walk into the valley this Wednesday for Fox Glacier operators/businesses and community members to discuss the access issues.
