YIELD accretive stocks, such as those in the real estate in the real estate investment trust (REIT) space, could become more attractive going forward even as safe havens become more appealing amid volatile markets. The continued talk and reports on the probable bear market that global markets are in now can also contribute to increased appetite for REIT stocks, moving forward. However, market analysts also point to the outstanding issue of the US Federal Reserve’s planned rate increases that may put a dampener on REIT performance. However, there now appears to be growing pressure from even US President Donald Trump himself for the Fed to halt all planned rate increases given slowing global growth. CNBC reports that Fed officials have collectively indicated that two more rate increases are likely this year when it last raised the US interest rate on Dec 19.
