It was July 20, 1969, and Neil Armstrong stepped or bounced on to the moon in front of my eyes. It created a moment I'll always remember. John F Kennedy's promise 10 years earlier of putting a man on the moon had been fulfilled. So, with the 50th anniversary in just over a fortnight, I welcomed the series, Apollo's Moon Shot (Sky 74, Mondays). The US space programme urgently needed Guy Fawkes but, when it tried a month later, the rocket failed, the explosion hiccupped and the satellite spluttered to the ground.
