County Meet defending champions Montserrado County have qualified for the final in two consecutive years and will face Bong County in Sunday’s final at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex. Similar to Bong, Coach Samuel Sumo’s side booked their final ticket through an 8-7 post-match penalty win against Margibi County after both teams settled to a 1-1 at the end of the full 90 minutes and extra time. This was the second time Montserrado has edged out Margibi in the semifinals through a penalty shootout to reach the final. Sunday’s final will mark their fifth final since the inauguration of the competition in 1956. Meanwhile, in kickball, Nimba will be hoping to become triple champions when they face Grand Bassa in the final.
