Vivo, one of the resident Bolivian squirrel monkeys at New Plymouth's Brooklands Zoo. Two of New Plymouth's six Bolivian squirrel monkeys are moving across the ditch to do their bit for their species. Brooklands Zoo is part of an international breeding programme for Bolivian squirrel monkeys and Vampir and Vivo are being sent to Australia to take part. "It's wonderful for Brooklands Zoo to have a role in keeping a species healthy by making sure there's diverse genetics available for future breeding," Brooklands Zoo lead Eve Cozzi said. Brooklands Zoo also breeds cotton-top tamarins and capuchin monkeys on-site, occasionally exchanging animals with other zoos.
