His name means ‘guardian of truth’, but whatever Satyapal Singh is guarding, it ain’t the truth. He doesn’t believe in evolution because he hasn’t seen a “monkey turn into a man” (there might be good examples of the reverse though, but we don’t know). “Over thousands of years, we’ve been hearing tales from our ancestors and no one has ever written or said that someone went into a jungle and saw a monkey turn into a man,” Mr. Singh has said. After all, why should a monkey go into a jungle to turn into a man? Going by his theory of “what I don’t see doesn’t exist”, we assume therefore that he has seen atoms of oxygen meet atoms of hydrogen to form water.
